Day 2

It wasn’t a very good night for most of us. I think Colleen slept well but it was spotty for Vicki, Kody and me.

When I climbed into the top bunk it felt like I was sitting in a hole. This is why

The bottom of my bunk.

Our plan for today is to hike the Limpia Creek Trail. We’ve packed our backpacks with goodies and water. After stopping at the park to get a day pass and the code to the trail gate, we’re off!

More amazing clouds this morning.
Trail map.
Rip roaring ready to go.

Are we there yet?

Time for snacks and water.

Break time

Pointing to the top. Almost there NOT! We thought this was the top but the trail curved and we were on to another mountain top.
Interesting purple cactus.

Very different terrain and scenery but absolutely magnificent!
We made it!! Yay!!!

Signing the book.

We can see for miles and miles. It is very very windy. Red flag warning today.
The trail and our stats at the top.

Just enjoying the view and a rest.

Heading back down.

Very rocky areas. Real ankle turners.

Made it back to the car although I don’t think Colleen and Vicki thought we would.
Stats at the end of this incredible hike to the top of the highest point in the Davis Mountains State Park. Mount Livermore (aka Baldy Peak).
We don’t look so perky now but these are the most amazing women and I am so blessed that they were willing to do this with me.

We stopped for lunch/dinner at a restaurant in Fort Davis. As I was ordering a burger I remembered Colleen saying yesterday that if we combined all our dietary restrictions we could say I want a burger with no bun, no cheese and no meat. Kody said wouldn’t that be a salad?
Colleen trying the Ivermectin. Don’t think she liked it.

The rest of the afternoon was spent sitting on the front porch looking at our pictures from the day and telling stories 😁.

Total stats
Steps 24,585
Miles 10.1
51 floors

Early to bed to prepare for a shorter hike tomorrow.
